Gary R. Johnson is an East Tennessee based Photographer, Cinematographer and Visual Artist. Specializing in a variety of high-end portraiture, advertising, travel/adventure, architectural and fine art photography, he prides himself on being able to collaborate with each of his clients to achieve their specific needs and create beautiful images that exceed expectations.

Originally from Ohio, Gary began working professionally in the television and film industries while studying Motion Picture Production at Wright State University.  Over the past twenty years he has worked on several major motion picture productions, shot countless national TV show episodes, and has held Director of Photography positions on numerous network programs, all while working as a professional photographer and developing his own style.

Gary’s work has been featured in multiple magazines, on the covers of books, and in regional and touring exhibitions. He has been chosen multiple times for Knoxville’s Arts At The Airport, most recently in the 2018-2019 Winter Exhibition, and is humbled to be one of only a handful of photographers to achieve this honor. His personal, thirteen-piece photography project “Embarkation” was featured at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church Art Gallery in 2014.  You can currently find his work illustrating the pages of Deep in Alaska, a children's photo book published by the University of Alaska Press and distributed by Amazon and other online book sellers.
